When you give someone your time, you are giving them a portion of your life you will NEVER get back. Your time is your life. That is why the greatest gift you can give someone is your time – Rick Warren

‘Learn to Make Time’ is a book I highly recommend.

Whether you work for an organisation or run your own business you will learn how to manage your time more effectively.

For Business Owners, you will learn how to structure your time and tasks better, such as when to make phone calls and what to do when you receive them.

Being a Planner, although I have managed projects, organised events and meetings and do my best to have a happy work life balance, I found the book a useful reference to have.

You will also learn how to write and manage your e-mails such that you can find them a lot quicker as well.

And you may make lifestyle changes which help you with your goals. *

  • The last film (what I used to watch!) I watched was in 2013 (completely stopped watching ALL of them),
  • In 2014 I stopped watching TV, and stopped listening to (ALL) the music I used to listen to,
  • and I’ve also made other changes…

* There is a reason.

I’ve never looked back. I’m happier and healthier.

Value time? Value health?

You will learn great time saving tips. Value TIME.

If you make your goals a priority, you will make the time

2. You will work out what makes you happy
3. It is definitely worth doing the suggested exercises regularly on Gratitude

Highly recommend reading Rhonda’s books:

  1. The Secret

Time and health are two precious assets that we don’t appreciate until they have depleted – Denis Waitley

Running – another passion!

‘The only book you’ll ever need ~ Running’ book. The title says it all – One-stop!

From doing races at school such as the 100m, 200m, 800m and cross country, jogging when I was at University in the early 90s, I got back into running again in 2006.

I have done the 5K and 10K for Race for Life (Cancer Research) and I recently ran the Bupa Great North Run Half-Marathon for British Red Cross (please see website link 1 below).  A wonderful journey shared with my family.

I first read the book in June 2013. It is a must read for people who

  1. Are beginners
  2. Are looking for a better work life balance
  3. Are participating in a race
  4. Used to run and want to run again
  5. Want a healthier lifestyle

If you want some motivation to start jogging/running, read ‘the TOP ten reasons to run list’. There are so many health, physical and mental benefits from running. Endorphins – natural 🙂

The book is also very educational! You learn about the mechanics of the body and muscles and history of marathons.

TOP TIPS and great advice given:-

  1. ATTIRE Clothes and running shoes
  2. BEFORE you start running
  3. BIG DAY planning and preparation. Local, National and International event
  4. CHOOSING who best to train with. I would add staying focused on the run and motivating people, and not talk about your company information /work with whoever you’re running with…, which is what I do when I do my weekly 5K run with 450+ local runners.
  5. HOW to get back to full fitness advice. Sports/physical exercises you can do
  6. HOW to stay fully fit during your training. Prevention is better than cure!
  7. MARATHON planning and preparation
  8. NUTRITION Food and drinks
  9. PHYSICAL exercises you can do to help with your run and ‘why’, such as rowing and weight lifting for upper body stride
  10. PLANNING! Realistic training schedule
  11. RACES 5K, 10K, Half-Marathon, Marathon and Ultra-Runs (50 miles, 100 miles, 24-hour long run!!!)
  12. STRETCHING advice and when best to do so
  13. UP hill running
  14. WHY yoga and meditation can help with your run
  15. WOMEN safety/security and health advice
  16. YOUR running style. How to conserve energy and run efficiently

10/10 – Highly recommend!

Health is the Greatest Gift – Buddha

Very true!

I have always had an interest in health and nutrition. I am a great believer in looking after your health and also believe exercise should be something you do regularly and enjoy!

Age is just a number!

I am in my forties. I am still as active as I was when I was in my twenties! Young at heart.

In 2007, I attended a nutrition course. I eat a lot! Food is energy! The course was brilliant and I learnt a lot.

I have had The Nutrition for Life book for years. I would recommend the book to everyone (vegetarians, vegans and non-vegetarians) because…

1. For the Athletes, there’s really good information on how to cope with the extra demands.
2. If you want to become more fit and healthy, there’s a questionnaire you can fill in which will tell you about your current habits. From this, you will identify what changes you may want to make. Assess what you’re doing now before you make changes.
3. The different fat types are explained – know the difference between good fats and not so good!
4. There’s a really good diagram which illustrates how the body processes food.
5. There’s excellent information about the need for proteins, carbohydrates, fats, vitamins and minerals.
6. There’s excellent information on what is in the food we eat, such as proteins, carbohydrates, fats, vitamins and minerals.
7. There’s information on dairy products and choosing the right milk and cheese. This will be useful for vegans.
8. There’s information on how food can prevent diseases and medical conditions. Food as medicine – cholesterol, diabetes, cancer, etc.
9. There’s useful tips on how to buy food (smart shopping) you should eat (will comment about food waste in another blog post) and how to preserve food.
10. You will learn about how our needs changes at different stages in our life.
11. You will learn more about why we have to eat food and the importance of drinking water.

Whenever I hear people tell me they’re dieting or doing a particular diet to lose weight, my reaction is ‘what?’ Someone told me they were thinking of doing the cabbage diet. Say what! The book lists and describes the different diets. Hmmm…

What you eat depends on your budget and choices (shops, local, supermarkets, online, etc.) you have, where, when and how often you shop.

Positive attitude – I believe it is also about having the right mindset. And thank those lucky genes as well.

I would recommend the Nutrition for Life book as it will help you maintain a healthy lifestyle.

Time has a wonderful way of showing us what really matters – Margaret Peters

FABULOUS BOOK – HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

The ‘Rules of Life’ is a book I often recommend to people. An International Bestseller!

1. Do you want to be happy?
2. Do you want a better work life balance?
3. Do you want to look back at your day, or even at your life and say “Made a Difference”?

Are you nodding?

Did you say Yes to 1, 2 or all 3 questions above? A must read book then!

I really like Richard Templar’s style of writing. You will smile when you read the book.

There are 5 sections in ‘The Rules of Life’ book.

1. Rules for You
2. Partnership Rules
3. Family and Friends Rules
4. Social Rules
5. World Rules

Each section is focused on a number of rules which make you think about yourself, how you deal with people you know and meet, and “our wonderful planet” (the last 3 words are quoted from the book).

There are certain words and positive messages in the book which really stand out and I often say myself.

– Be Positive
– Being Realistic
– Fun and Educational
– Giving Back
– How and Who you spend your Precious time with
– Team
– Treating all People with Respect
– We

Read ‘The Rules of Life’ book and you’ll soon realise the personality traits and values listed in the book cost you nothing.  Saved money – Wonderful! You will feel so much better and happier, and then you can make other people be happy!

The rules are good reminders to have. It’s up to you which rules you want to follow; eventually it may even become habit. I am sure you are already doing some things naturally.

Once you have read ‘The Rule of Life’ book, you may want to reflect back on what you have achieved in life and what’s your life purpose. You will find the right solutions – what makes you happy and ‘makes a difference’. You may even get some motivation to take action on your goals!

A big thank you to Richard Templar and to the people who I spoke to and liaised with at Pearson. All have been very helpful.
